About Petrified Wood
What is petrified wood?
Petrified wood is ancient organic wood that has undergone a process called permineralisation. Over millions of years — typically 10 to 20 million years in Indonesia — buried tree trunks are slowly replaced by minerals (primarily silica, quartz, and other crystalline compounds) carried by groundwater through volcanic sediment.
The result is a material that is simultaneously wood and stone: it retains the original grain, ring structure, and bark detail of the tree, but is now composed entirely of mineral crystals. Each piece is therefore both a geological specimen and a work of natural art.
Is petrified wood safe to use as furniture in the home?
Yes, completely. Petrified wood is chemically inert — it is essentially stone, with no organic material remaining. It does not off-gas, decay, splinter, warp, or harbour insects or mould. It is one of the most durable and hygienic materials you can use in a home environment.
How old is the petrified wood you use?
The petrified wood in our collection is estimated to be between 10 and 20 million years old, originating from the Miocene epoch. It was formed in the volcanic regions of Java and surrounding islands.
Why does the colour vary so much from piece to piece?
The colour of petrified wood is determined by the specific minerals that infiltrated the wood during fossilisation. Iron oxides produce rich reds, browns, and yellows. Manganese produces deep purples and blacks. Silica alone produces whites and greys. Carbon produces blacks. The incredible variety — from honey amber to deep espresso to crystalline multi-colour — reflects the unique geological conditions at the site of each specimen.
Is it ethically sourced?
Yes. Our petrified wood is sourced responsibly from legal concession areas in Indonesia. Petrified wood is a geological mineral, not a living tree — its collection is regulated under Indonesian mining law, not forestry law. We work with trusted extraction partners who comply with all applicable regulations.
Our Products
Are all pieces truly one-of-a-kind?
Yes. Every piece of petrified wood is a unique geological specimen. No two slabs share the same mineral composition, colour pattern, grain structure, or shape. When a piece is sold, it is gone — there is no restocking of an identical item. The SKU and photographs in our catalogue represent the exact physical piece available.
Can you make custom sizes or shapes?
To a limited extent. Since each slab is a natural specimen, the overall form is determined by the original tree. However, our artisans can trim, shape, and polish pieces to specific dimensions, or cut a larger slab into multiple pieces. For a custom commission, please contact us with your requirements.
What does the "finish" refer to?
The finish describes how the surface of the petrified wood has been treated after extraction:
- Natural / Raw — cleaned and stabilised but not polished; shows the raw texture
- Matte Polish — ground smooth and buffed to a soft, non-reflective finish
- High Gloss / Mirror Polish — ground progressively finer and polished to a deep mirror shine that reveals the full crystalline depth
- Natural Edge — the outer bark edge is preserved; only the top surface is polished
What is the stock / availability of each product?
Most large furniture pieces (dining tables, slabs) have a stock of 1 — they are singular specimens. Smaller decorative items (bookends, slices, bowls) may be available in quantities greater than 1 where we have multiple comparable pieces. Stock is updated regularly. Contact us to confirm availability of a specific item before visiting.
How heavy are your pieces?
Petrified wood is denser than most natural stone — typically 2.5 to 2.8 g/cm³. Small decorative pieces weigh 1–10 kg. Coffee tables typically 30–80 kg. Large dining tables can reach 200–500 kg. Weight specifications are listed on each product page. Please factor this into your delivery and installation planning.
How to Place an Order
We do not process sales directly through this website. All purchases are arranged directly with our team — either in person at our showroom, by video call, or by WhatsApp. Here is the typical process:
Browse & Enquire
Browse our collection online or visit the showroom. When you find a piece you like, contact us by WhatsApp, call, or the enquiry form. Include the product name or SKU reference.
Discuss & Confirm
Our team will confirm availability, answer your questions, discuss dimensions, delivery options, and any customisation. For large purchases, we are happy to arrange a video call.
View in Person (Recommended)
We strongly encourage a showroom visit before committing to large or high-value pieces. Photographs never fully capture the depth, lustre, and presence of petrified wood. Our showroom in Mas, Ubud is open daily 9am–5pm.
Agree Terms & Complete Purchase
All terms — price, delivery, payment, and any customisation — are agreed directly between you and our team. There is no online payment system. Payment arrangements, including deposit and balance, are confirmed during your discussion.
Do you accept international orders? How do I ship large pieces home?
Yes! We have a brilliant range of unique petrified wood pieces that offer incredible value for international buyers, and we have extensive experience exporting them (including sea freight for heavy items).
Pro Tip for International Buyers: If you are serious about purchasing larger pieces (like our dining tables), we highly recommend getting yourself organized with a freight forwarder before your visit. While we are very helpful and can assist with packaging and export documentation (like CITES certificates), having your own freight forwarder prepared ensures the absolute smoothest and most cost-effective experience getting your heavy pieces shipped back home safely.
Can I reserve a piece while I decide?
Yes, a piece can typically be held for a short period with a reservation deposit. Please contact our team to arrange this. Items are not reserved without confirmation from our team.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum order. You are welcome to purchase a single decorative piece or furnish an entire villa. We serve both individual buyers and interior designers / hospitality projects.

Shipping & Delivery
Do you deliver within Bali?
Yes. We offer delivery within Bali for all pieces. Delivery cost and logistics (including crane hire or additional manpower for very heavy items) are discussed at the time of purchase.
Do you ship to other Indonesian islands?
Yes. We regularly ship to Jakarta, Surabaya, and other major cities via cargo service. Please enquire for a quote based on the specific piece(s) and destination.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International shipping is available for all pieces. We work with experienced freight forwarders who specialise in oversized and fragile cargo. Pieces are custom crated for sea or air freight. Please contact us for a shipping quote to your country.
How are pieces packaged for shipping?
All pieces are custom packed with foam padding, timber crating, and moisture-resistant wrapping appropriate to the destination. For international sea freight, we use heavy-duty wooden crates. We aim to ensure zero damage in transit — our team has extensive experience with this.
Care & Maintenance
How do I clean petrified wood furniture?
For day-to-day cleaning, a soft damp cloth is all that is needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or acidic solutions (vinegar, citrus). For polished surfaces, a dry microfibre cloth works best. For matte finishes, a very slightly damp cloth is fine.
Does petrified wood need to be sealed or treated?
High-gloss polished pieces benefit from occasional buffing with a stone polish (silicon-free) to maintain the shine. Matte and natural-edge pieces require no treatment. Petrified wood does not absorb liquids like natural wood — it is stone — so no oil or wax treatment is needed or recommended.
Can I use petrified wood furniture outdoors?
Yes, with some considerations. Petrified wood is extremely weather-resistant — it will not rot, warp, or degrade in rain or humidity. However, prolonged exposure to direct tropical sun may slowly fade the polished finish. Outdoor pieces with a matte or natural finish are more suitable for exposed outdoor settings. We have a dedicated outdoor range — please browse our outdoor collection.
Can petrified wood crack or break?
Like all stone, petrified wood can crack under severe impact. It is not brittle under normal conditions — our pieces are solid and robust — but dropping a heavy object on the edge of a polished slab could chip it. We recommend using felt pads under objects placed on tabletops. If a piece is damaged, we can advise on repair options.
